About us

People often think we're a much larger business than we are. They see the photos/videos of our animals and their enclosures and think we're a shop or larger organisation.  But the reality is, we're just a small, family run business, managed alongside our "normal" jobs. Reptile keeping is something we're really passionate about and we feel so lucky to be able to share this with other reptile enthusiasts, encouraging love, appreciation and respect for these animals.

So alongside the regular day jobs, we look after what can only be described as a mini zoo. It certainly feels like it sometimes with the sheer amount of work involved, but so worthwhile and rewarding. It's something that started with Matt as a young boy, inspired by Steve Irwin and his enthusiasm for sharing the wonders of reptiles with the world. After getting his first snake at 10 years old it was clear to Matt that these animals were going to play a huge part in his life. After Christie took redundancy at the start of 2023, it presented us with an opportunity to follow our dreams and set up the business. And since then, we haven't looked back - we haven't had time to! ;-)

We like to think we strike the right balance between being a trusted, professional business, whilst also offering that personal touch.

Our Mission

We are Matt & Christie and we run our family business, Rockin’ Reptiles.  We also have some help from our 2 young boys, who deserve a special mention because not only did they come up with the name Rockin' Reptiles, but they have plenty of ideas to help steer us in the right direction when it comes to providing fun and engaging sessions! And they love these animals as much as we do.

Something we feel really strongly about is ensuring animals are provided with the highest level of care.  We put a great deal of time and effort into creating the best environments for our animals to thrive in and we are proud to share this with others. For us, this is about sharing our love of reptiles, whilst educating others and allowing them to conquer their fears by learning about and interacting with animals you don't see every day.

Whether it's on television, in books, social media or just word of mouth, reptiles are more often than not portrayed as the bad guys! From the huge, mean snake in Aladdin or the crocodile waiting to eat up captain hook, these animals tend to be given the role of the villain and as a result end up with a bad and unfair reputation. Fear of these animals isn't something we're born with, its a learned behaviour, as we observe the reaction of others towards them.

A huge part of our mission is to bust some of the myths that surround these creatures, giving you the opportunity to learn more about their natural habitats and behaviours as well as allowing you to get hands on and experience just how different the reality really is.

We want to improve the perception of reptiles and as they are becoming more popular pets, we encourage responsible reptile keeping and help promote better standards of care.  We hope this is evident from what you've read and from seeing our set ups and what we do.  We believe this helps us attract the best customers, who share our values and care about animals as much as we do

We'd like to thank you in advance for your interest & support :-)

Caring for our animals

We always strive to provide our animals with the best, naturalistic enclosures, allowing them the space and enrichment they need to thrive. We replicate, to the best of our ability, their natural habitats.

We are passionate about giving these incredible animals the dedicated care and attention they require and equally as passionate about sharing our knowledge and encouraging others to do the same.

Over the years we've unfortunately seen too many reptiles not being given the specialist care and treatment they deserve. All too often, basic husbandry needs are neglected, leading to animals becoming sick and/or in need of rehoming.

We've dedicated our lives to the hobby. Reptile keeping has changed so much over the years and it continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Keeping well informed of technological advancements and industry research, we continue to learn and share our knowledge and experience of reptiles with others, and like wise, seek out the best in the industry to learn from.  We're proud to be part of some amazing Networks, Forums and Groups, where like minded individuals and businesses can share their successes, and also frustrations, and seek to bring positive change.

IF you're gonna do it, do it the right way.
