FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please see below some of the questions we get asked the most. If you don't find the answer you're looking for, please feel free to get in touch using the details on our Contact Us page and we'll be more than happy to help
What animals do you provide?
We have a large selection of reptiles and invertebrates, and depending on the circumstances of the event we'll bring along the most suitable animals available. From the small creepy crawlies, such as millipedes, to the big and beautiful, such as our 12ft Burmese Python, Barry.
Will I be able to touch or hold the animals?
Absolutely! We want to provide you with an interactive, hands-on experience where you can really get up close and personal with the animals. All of this will be done with full guidance from one of our experienced hosts. Nobody will ever be forced to touch or hold an animal they aren't comfortable with.
Are the animals dangerous?
It's important to note, as with any animal, there is always an element of risk involved when it comes to physical interaction. These animals, like any other, can have teeth and claws which could cause harm. However, we only bring along those animals which we've worked with for a long time and understand their behaviours and temperaments. Our experience tells us that as long as all guidance we provide on the day is followed the risk of any unwanted situations is extremely slim. As stated in our Mission Statement, our job is to demonstrate the softer side to these creatures and dispel any myths that they are monsters.
Where can the encounter be held?
The location of any encounter will be discussed thoroughly prior to confirming booking. Although Parties can effectively be anywhere indoors that you choose, we do need to ensure that the environment is 100% suitable for our animals in terms of space, temperature, access etc.
Do you offer discount on any bookings?
We do offer a discount for repeat bookings. So if for example you are a school looking to book us for a visit for a particular class or year group, if you book sessions for multiple classes/visits then we can look at offering a special discount.
Can i cancel or move my booking?
We understand that sometimes things happen outside of your control. In the event that you need to cancel your booking, we will offer a full refund as long as we are given 48 hours notice of the cancellation. If you wish to move your booking to a new date, your deposit can be transferred as long as again, we are given 48 hours notice.
How do I make a booking?
Please visit our PACKAGES & PRICES section from the home page. Here you'll find details of all our packages, prices and instructions of how to get in touch to make your booking.
Do you rehome animals?
We will always consider taking on unwanted reptiles, but this would be with careful consideration.
Who is responsible for supervising the children?
Our number one priority is the welfare of our animals and ensuring that they are being handled/treated appropriately. All children will require adult supervision AT ALL TIMES to ensure that our simple guidelines and instructions are being followed.
How far will you travel for an encounter?
We are based in Bristol and as a general rule of thumb, we will travel anywhere in the city. However, this is dependant on a number of factors including the time of year/weather, as well as the exact location and requirements of the encounter.
And finally, the question Matt is asked most whilst doing encounters
(it's a funny one, and has nothing to do with reptiles):
"Why have you got faces on your thumbs?"
Well, my 2 boys drew a smiley face on each of my thumbs, and I loved them so much, I decided to get them tattoo'd on. And now I always have happy thumbs :)
